Music Audio Licensee
Copyright Permissions
It is illegal to sell/give/post/borrow the file for anyone outside of a fellow licensee.
A licensee has permission to copy the file indefinitely, so as to provide multiple backups and locations from which they may use it.
A licensee has permission to use the file in personal settings.
Personal settings include the following:
- playing the file openly in a non-public space or vehicle around an immediate group audience of 12 or less individuals that are not also licensees (please be respectful of others in terms of amplitude used)
- listening to the file in a public space while using a headset
- using a fragment of the file as a ringtone on a licensee’s phone
A licensee does NOT have permission to use the file in a non-personal setting (as outlined above) without a Public Performance License from ASCAP OR in any projects not used in only personal settings (regardless of whether it is “sold” or not) without purchasing the appropriate SONG PROJECT USE CONTRACT from Frost Key Creative. Use the contact page to inquire about obtaining one.
- In other words: a licensee may use the file in a home video that is only shown in personal settings.
A licensee may edit/delete/add freely any of the following ID3 tag frames:
- APIC (attached picture)
- PCNT (play counter)
- POPM (popularimeter)
- TOWN (Name of a licensee) – a licensee can NOT add the name of someone who is not already a licensee to this frame
- TALB (album name)
- TSOA (album sort order)
- TSOP (artist sort order)
- TSOT (title sort order)
- COMM (comments)
- TMOO (mood)
- TCON (genre)
- ETCO (event timing codes)
- TXXX (text)

CAUTION: Some ID3 tag editors automatically delete frames when used to edit an ID3 tag which may result in a breach of copyright. Frost Key Creative recommends adding and editing frames using python and importing mutagen.
